About 2024

31.12.24

At Rockaway beach - my happy place. Weirdly also enjoy sitting an hour on the A train listening to music and/or reading a book or just napping (should not do that, no) or people watching. I saw dolphins in the ocean! Goal for 2025 - to see a shark (yes, sharks in every form show up round here, haha)

I moved to New York City. I have been living in New York City for 10 months now. That should sum up 2024 :) As I said in 2023: "...one of the most exciting things about 2023 might be 2024." (love it, I have reached the level where I quote myself)

One week we have -13C and the next +13C. It feels as insane as it sounds. Weather makes the people? But also - all that sunshine! Wouldn't have it any other way. Also my excuse why my summer clothes are still in a pile and not put away in December

Writing this while looking at some of my favourite views ever. Out of my bedroom window. Up in that tower. My Roman Empire? (question mark obsolete)

Dyker Heights Christmas lights (and all other photos with Christmassy light stuff)

The secret winter life of ice-cream trucks!

Eight years of lists, five years of travelogues. Not this year. Not because it hasn't been packed with memorable amazing spectacular fantastic and overall fabulous moments. It absolutely has. And it has been hard, too. Like every year, I suppose. But everything's bigger in Roman Empire New York. So, I have not had time nor energy to make lists. Or to update this blog. Or to process everything. But I did want to wrap up 2024 in order to dive into 2025. I have this eternal soft spot for blogging. The simpler times of the Internet. Need to leave a mark that I was here, also in 2024.

As for 2024 - I did fail 52 weeks. But I kinda knew it would go like that, also - have found all kinds of inspiration and kept on taking photos, so no hard feelings (towards myself). I didn't travel too much, because hey-hello, I moved to the traveler's dream. I have gone to less gigs than I thought I would, but then again I have gone more to theatre than I thought I would. All balanced. I have made SO many Amazon orders. The Old Fashioned has become one of my happy hour go to drinks. The latter needed to be noted as I have been through and through a gin&tonic kind of person. For the rest of it - I guess we need to meet for a happy hour for more stories and/or fascinating trivia, because I'm running out of time here before we ring in the new year.

My heart goes out to whoever lives there. You and me both, you and me both...

But now I feel like there should be some kind of list as it's the end of year post. So I will share some of my new year's resolutions here for the sake of it. You know, if no energy to look back, then must muster some to look forward. (wow, yes, that sounded almost profound)

  • Find a place/event to wear those insane sparkly red heels (disclaimer: do not know know what possessed me during sales, but here we are)
  • Take at least one surf class (yes, I did google if it's okay to try surfing when you're "old")
  • Use up all expired film rolls in my fridge
  • Set up a quick menu for new Fujifilm X-T50 + become friends with the new camera
  • Read more books (ah, because needed one super cliché one as well)
  • Buy a bigger TV?! (the struggle is real)

Here's to 2025!
