There is this thing about traveling they say - that it broadens your horizons and makes you see things from a different angle. Cliché much. But so it is. One of my favourite things to observe is fashion; suddenly anything's possible. You can wear less or you can wear more or you can totally rock socks in sandals! Yes, yes you read correct - socks in sandals! I mean how cool is the girl on the photo above! Or then this kid on the photos below.

I used to have sandals like that back in the original 90s! Ah! Oh and those pom-pom socks! So while for years I have been (and still am) a bit of anti-socks-in-sandals kinda person then let's be honest... I totally love socks in sandals now and then and I just choose to call it being so Japanese (read: foreign and exotic, so clearly acceptable). Okay and I might be slightly biased with my love for
Happy Socks (so I take any reason to show off my socks alright).
While at it - there seemed to be several photo shoots happening when I was in Nara for a day. Maybe they're all like really famous people or shooting for fashion magazines (socks!). (: I kinda really love observing others' photoshoots. What, why and how.

So while at times broadening my horizons means seeking shelter at a Starbucks (gasp!) then I would also like to believe that maybe a little bit of local fashion and different ideas rub off too and stretch my mind and leave me with some new perspectives (that at times contradict everything I used to know). Because in the end it's all about keeping your cool and wearing a sun hat.
