When 2016 Becomes 2017

New York, USA, October 2016
Huh, still some hours left. Just (not quite) enough to finish a book or two or make a list of all the best things that have happened and all the best things that I hope for to happen just after the clock strikes midnight. All the goals... that I don't make! (too mainstream, you know)

Must say I made a nice round up about a year ago, it's nice to look back and be like - hey, good things were like really good (and we don't talk about the bad, so passé). Perhaps I am not that much into making lists of best of-s right now 'cos I am eager to sneak away from the computer and have some of that cake I got from a French bakery. Yet at the same time I wanna say something before the clock strikes midnight...

Get a feather hat and drink some bubbly! No matter who you are Advanced Style ladies are an inspiration. And while New York always makes everything seem more glamorous (at least on screen) then in reality one can dress up (or down or all around or...) for the show called life anywhere. I'd say that makes a pretty good life goal for now, tomorrow and all the particles of time to come!

Happy New Year! And thank you Old Year for being around, yes we remember - you were just as new 364 days ago.

You know those places you visit for a very brief time, but you get the feeling that you need to go back. Good vibes. This is the case  for Kaunas (Lithuania) and me. Perhaps just to have a doughnut or take a walk. So maybe one day. Photos here are from summer 2015. (Oh how I wanna go on a road trip NOW!)

I'll be back! I'll be back! Gonna be visiting Madrid in early 2017, first time after leaving it in summer 2014. It has been too long. Way too long. It could be said that I am a bit mad for Madrid (har-har, loved the word play here now didn't you).

Back in 2011 it was all a bit confusing...

... yet the signs of fabulous were there...

... chaining my heart to this city...

... oh Madrid!

When someone says 'Cambridge' then I think of this. So, Harvard and Cambridge for me are on different continents. Except. Harvard is in Cambridge. Cambridge, Massachusetts. However, thanks to Wikipedia I can now tell you that I am not completely nuts and in fact Cambridge did get its name after University of Cambridge.

So as a follow up to my Harvard update, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you - Cambridge, MA! A lovely-lovely small town I had the pleasure to spend a weekend in and have a local guide to show me good food, good books and good hats. To say the least. :)

With Gilmore Girls comeback it's only appropriate to share some impressions from the school Rory was originally supposed attend - Harvard. I must say I developed a crush on Harvard Book Store (that I have no "real" photos of - perhaps I'm not into sharing after all?!) - their used books section is love!

PS. Last fall I visited Yale campus. Perhaps hanging around fairy tale like campuses is my new thing now, can't say I mind. :)

This Is (Not) Roadside America

So here I am eating a Pop-Tart* and singing along to Hozier (perfectly normal after watching a documentary on Frank Zappa... imagine seeing him live!). So, wrapped up in all that subjective normalness (high on artificial flavouring and whatnot - watermelon Pop-Tart, what a leftover to take to Europe with oneself) I am thrilled to share some rather grim and lousy photographs with you.

The kind one takes on a four and half hour bus ride from Manhattan to Cambridge, MA. In pouring rain. On a highway. Going way too fast (or maybe there are no speed limits in the promised land). I was aiming for New England autumn foliage. It was there, on the other side of the road. So, I was left with rain and puzzles like - Romantic Depot?! (trying to configure my knowledge of Home Depot and romance into one...) All those (abandoned?) 70's buildings in the bush. People in the cars (for miles only elderly people or for miles only people in their 30s  etc). Rain. New York - Connecticut - Massachusetts.

 * Gilmore Girls diet. Not recommended. OMG, new episode out next week!
