Barthes Vision

9.5.16

Spring winds have brought about some exciting times - I have my first ever photo up on display for the world to see. Real life photo, in flesh and blood (okay, not quite that real, but close enough - see!). In other words - I participated in Barthes Vision photo contest organised by the French Institute of Estonia. The photo submitted had to illustrate one of the fourteen Barthes quotes (more info here) and I chose the following quote to go with the photo above (Coney Island, New York, November 2014):
Colouring the world is always a means to deny it. / Colorier le monde, c’est toujours un moyen de le nier.
My photo is one of the ten winning photos chosen for the exhibition. So it was printed and hung up alongside other nine best works (some amazing stuff there!) at Viru keskus - a shopping center at the heart of Tallinn. The exhibition is open until June 26th if you happen to be in town and have a thing for French philosophers and/or photography.
